“There was a click, and a prick of electricity went through both Theo and Mae. There was again a blinding flash. From the epicenter of the watch, a wave of white light engulfed Mae and Theo and the world around them. “Pressed,” Theo heard Mae’s voice echo in a strange vacuum. Suddenly and quietly, they disappeared off the porch.
Or was it the porch that disappeared?”

It all happened when Theo and Mae were looking for an idea for their annual science project. Under the tiles of the backyard, Mae finds a mysterious ancient pocket watch. While they study the magical object, Oliver, Theo’s younger brother, causes a flood in the backyard.

In less than two hours, Theo’s parents are coming back from the airport!

Will Theo and Mae manage to drain the water from the yard?
Where will the pocket watch take them?
What is a catapult, and who was Archimedes?
How can you change the color of flowers? And how is that related to the color of fish in Mae’s aquarium?

More than “just a book.”

● Guided home experiments using multimedia.
● Exciting historical facts and principles of science.
● Inspirations for independent thinking, exploration, and creativity, with emphasis on sustainability and recycling.
● Support of gender-equality, multiculturalism, and the acceptance of the “other.”
